Abstract
Shipyard is an industry where ships are designed, built, and repaired. The shipbuilding process at a shipyard involves a variety of complex stages, from planning to launch. This unstable demand can cause serious problems in inventory management. If the inventory is too much, the company will bear high storage costs. Conversely, if supplies are too low, the production process will be hampered due to delays in material delivery, which can ultimately impact the ship's launch schedule. To overcome these problems, PT XYZ needs to implement a better inventory control system. This system aims to ensure the availability of sufficient plate materials to meet production needs, including demand forecasting, determination of safety stock, and determination of reorder points. The method used in this study is a Time Series consisting of three methods, namely Single Moving Average, Weighted Moving Average, and Single Exponential Smoothing with the help of POM-QM software. Based on the results of the study, the feasible method to be applied to PT XYZ forecasting is a moving average with an MAD value of 5,444, MSE of 46,679, MAPE of 6,695%, and forecasting results of 85 pcs every month. Based on the calculation results, it is recommended to reorder the plate material when the amount of inventory reaches the reorder point of 271 pcs. This number has taken into account the safety stock of 18 pcs. By implementing this reordering policy, companies can maintain sufficient availability of plate material to meet production needs without having to bear excessive storage costs
