Abstract
The mineral dolomite MgCa (CO3) 2 is one of the natural rocks based on carbonate minerals such as limestone, calcite (CaCO3) and magnesite (MgCO3). Dolomite is one of the most abundant natural resources in Indonesia which is widely used for fertilizer. This study aims to determine the best temperature and time in the separation of magnesium in dolomite. This separation process is carried out by a solidliquid extraction process using nitric acid solvent with extraction time (2,3,4,5, and 6 hours) and extraction temperature (30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 ° C). The results showed that the separation of magnesium hydroxide from dolomite with the addition of nitric acid obtained the best conditions, namely the stirring time of 3 hours with extraction temperature of 30 ° C obtained magnesium yield of 85.461 mg / L.
