Abstract
The application of restorative justice in Indonesia represents a progressive legal approach oriented toward restoring social relations between parties and avoiding the perpetrators from the conventional criminal justice process. One concrete example of this approach can be found in assault cases, which are regulated in Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP). This study aims to analyze the implementation of restorative justice within the Jombang District Attorney's Office in resolving assault cases, focusing on the implementation mechanism, success rate, and obstacles encountered. The method used is an empirical juridical approach, with data collected through interviews with prosecutors and case documentation studies. The research findings indicate that of the 36 assault cases handled between 2022 and 2024, only 12 were successfully resolved through restorative justice mechanisms. The main obstacles encountered include unpreparedness on the part of the victims, limited public understanding of the concept of restorative justice, and institutional limitations in facilitating the peace process. The solutions that the Jombang District Attorney's Office can offer to address these obstacles include: time management and providing a compromise and the best solution for both the perpetrator and the victim.
