Abstract

The Better Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for All in Indonesia (BERANI) program is a collaborative initiative between the Indonesian government, UNFPA, UNICEF and Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The main objective of this program is to improve the fulfillment of sexual and reproductive health rights for women and girls in Indonesia. In addition, the program also focuses on accelerating the reduction of maternal mortality, ensuring rights-based family planning services, and ensuring the availability of information and services on comprehensive sexual and reproductive health for girls in Indonesia. In its implementation, UNFPA adopts management approach through monitoring, capacity building in the preparation of policies, and problem-solving through UNALA program innovation. In addition, a normative approach is applied through UNFPA's role as a global normative authority, among others by supporting the preparation of 21 policies and 2 policy briefs involving civil society and religious organizations. The research analysis uses a qualitative descriptive method, relying on literature studies to explore in-depth information about UNFPA's efforts to improve sexual and reproductive health in Indonesia through the implementation of the BERANI program in Indonesia during the period 2018 to 2023.
