Abstract

Income inequality remains a major challenge in regional economic development, including in Bali Province, which is known as an international tourist destination. This study aims to analyze the determinants of income inequality across regencies and municipalities in Bali Province. The independent variables examined include minimum wage, labor force participation rate, foreign direct investment, and the number of people living in poverty. A quantitative approach is employed using panel data regression with a fixed effect model for the period from 2014 to 2023. The results of the analysis show that the minimum wage variable has a negative and statistically significant relationship with income inequality. The labor force participation rate has a negative but statistically insignificant relationship, while foreign direct investment has a positive yet insignificant relationship. Conversely, the number of people living in poverty has a positive and statistically significant effect. These findings highlight the need for development policies that not only emphasize economic growth but also prioritize equity and sustainability.
