Abstract
MAJAPAHIT BATIK GALLERY AND CENTER WITH VERNACULAR CONCEPT Brian Muhammad Dhiaulhaq 17051010004 ABSTRACT Batik is one of the cultures in Indonesia that has become a world heritage, UNESCO has included batik in the list of Representatives of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The development of batik motifs already existed since the era of the Majapahit kingdom, one of them was Majapahit Batik which has a characteristic motif in the form of symbols of the Majapahit kingdom as a pattern. In addition to motifs taken from royal symbols, the name of Majapahit batik itself is unique, for example, gedeg rubuh, sun, mrico bolong, pring sepur, grinsing, or solar majapahit. Sales of Majapahit batik are less stable due to lack of marketing. Therefore the need for facilities other than galleries as well as workshops and fashion are needed to support the marketing of Majapahit batik and also as batik education in the community. The design concept refers to the Traditional Taste theme in its design because it wants to represent a batik gallery building that can introduce batik to a modern form of local architecture, and uses a Vernacular Architecture approach that displays shapes that follow the surrounding environment which are reprocessed into a more modern design. Then applied using the Analogy method by taking the form of objects such as the shape of temples and traditional houses around the site which are redesigned into new forms that still have the resemblance of the object taken. The Majapahit Batik Gallery and Center is filled gallery facilities, workshops, and fashion shows, with hope that it will be able to increase income from the surrounding community, especially Majapahit batik makers, and can be more popular in the wider community and become one of the characteristics of the Mojokerto area. Keywords : Batik, Majapahit, Gallery, Mojokerto
