Abstract
This study examines the low income in the informal agricultural sector, which has driven rural men to seek employment outside of agriculture. As a result, maize farming, particularly during the maintenance phase, is often managed by women farmers. However, the labor and economic contributions of women farmers remain underexplored quantitatively. This study aims to analyze the labor time allocation of women farmers, the factors that influence it, household income, and the contribution of women farmers to that income. The research was conducted in Kapedi Village, Sumenep, involving 71 women farmers as respondents. Labor time was measured in Workdays (HOK) and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that women farmers contributed an average of 21.25 HOK per planting season, primarily in plant maintenance activities. Age had a negative effect, while land size and farming experience had a positive effect on labor time allocation. On the other hand, the number of family members showed no significant effect. Household income mainly came from on-farm activities (52%), and women contributed 38% of the total income through on-farm, off-farm, and non-farm work. Keywords: Female Farmers, Labor Time Allocation, Maize Farming, Household Income
