Abstract

High income disparity poses a serious challenge to economic development, especially in metropolitan areas characterized by uneven growth such as the Gerbangkertosusila region. This study aims to examine the influence of economic and non-economic factors on income disparities in the region. The economic variables analyzed include Economic Growth (X1) and Open Unemployment Rate (X2), Average yeae of schooling (X3) represents the educational dimension. Secondary data obtained from the East Java Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for the period 2016–2023 were analyzed using panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results indicate that economic growth has a negative but insignificant effect on income disparity in theGatekertosusila region, whereas the open unemployment rate has a positive and significant effect. Additionally, average years of schooling have a negative and significant influence on income disparity in Gerbangkertosusila Region
