Abstract

The growing participation in investment, especially in the banking sector, highlights the importance of understanding the factors that influence investment performance. Amid market dynamics and the advancement of information technology, investor behavior is not always rational and is often influenced by psychological factors. This study aims to identify and analyze the influence of loss aversion and overconfidence on investment performance, as well as the role of investment experience as a moderating variable. A quantitative approach was employed in this study, using a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to 140 respondents. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method with the help of SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results of the study show that: (1) Loss aversion has a positive and significant effect on investment performance among investors in investment galleries in Surabaya; (2) Overconfidence has a positive and significant effect on investment performance among investors in investment galleries in Surabaya; (3) Investment experience moderates the effect of loss aversion on investment performance among investors in investment galleries in Surabaya; and (4) Investment experience also moderates the effect of overconfidence on investment performance among investors in investment galleries in Surabaya. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of behavioral finance literature and serve as a practical reference for investors in making investment decisions.
