Abstract
The Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory was established in 1905 in Malang by an entrepreneur named Tan Tjwan Bie. The milling capacity at that time was 500 tons. The current capacity is 15,000 tons per day. The Kebon Agung Sugar Factory is located on Jalan Raya Kebon Agung, Kebon Agung Village, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency, East Java Province. The sugar production process is divided into several units including raw material preparation stations, milling stations, purification stations, evaporation stations, cooking and spinning stations, and finally finishing and packaging stations. In order to support the production process activities, the company has a utility unit that is tasked with water treatment, as well as reverse osmosis technology to help process the quality of water used as boiler feed water. The product produced is white crystal sugar. Product quality testing is carried out in the laboratory and quality control owned by the company itself, namely in the Quality Control laboratory. One of the parameters used to determine the good or bad quality of sugar is ICUMSA (International Commission For Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis). The ICUMSA number is used to see how clear the solution of the resulting sugar product is. The smaller the ICUMSA value, the better the quality of white crystal sugar.
