Abstract
The growth of the textile industry has become one of the major contributors to dye waste discharged into the environment, resulting in the contamination of water sources. This is evidenced by direct field observations, where the discharged wastewater still appeared intensely colored and emitted an unpleasant odor. This study aims to investigate the adsorption kinetics of methylene blue dye using graphene oxide adsorbent synthesized from battery waste. The Hummers method was employed in the synthesis of graphene oxide through the addition of sulfuric acid. The adsorption kinetics study was conducted using methylene blue concentrations ranging from 10 to 50 ppm and adsorption times between 5 and 25 minutes. The optimum adsorption conditions were achieved at a methylene blue concentration of 30 ppm with an adsorption time of 25 minutes. The adsorption mechanism followed the Langmuir isotherm model, with an R² value of 0.92522, a maximum adsorption capacity (Qm) of 99.1 mg·g⁻¹, and a Langmuir constant (K) of 0.325.
