Abstract

Every year, rice production continues to increase to meet demand. This results in a lot of waste from rice husks. In rice husks, 26.93% cellulose and 14.07% lignin were found. The main raw material used in this research is rice husks. After the rice husks were hydrolyzed using NaOH, the precipitation process was carried out with CaCl2. After adding H2SO3 to acidify the precipitated product, the permanganometric titration technique was used to determine the amount of oxalic acid produced. Minitab software version 19 was used to evaluate the RSM approach. Finding the best stirring time and NaOH concentration for the production of oxalic acid from rice husks was the main objective of this study. Determining the amount of oxalic acid that can be made from the material is another objective of this study. Based on the optimization results, it was determined that the use of 5N NaOH solution and stirring for 75 minutes produced the best quality at an oxalic acid content of 11.661%.
