Abstract

The use of nanoparticles in Indonesia has developed and has begun to be applied in the agricultural sector. Nanoparticles from Cymbopogon nardus can be used for nanopesticides because they contain several compounds that can reduce the population of S. frugiperda. This study used the ionic gelation method. The observation parameters in this study were PSA, zeta potential, SEM, mortality of S. frugiperda pests, feeding activity, and percentage of pupae formed. The shape of the citronella nanoparticles that had been made was irregular, had a size of 907.2 nm, and a zeta potential of -40.62 mV. The effective concentration of nanopesticides on mortality, feeding activity, and pupae formation of S. frugiperda was 1% in treatment 3. The percentage of mortality of S. frugiperda in treatment 3 was 87.5%. The percentage of reduction in S. frugiperda feeding activity was 62%. The percentage of pupae formed was 12.5%.
