Abstract

CV Sinar Baja Electric faces serious challenges in its production process due to capacity imbalance between work stations, which causes bottlenecks, especially in the cone molding and spray coating processes. This condition has an impact on the company's inability to optimally meet consumer demand. Therefore, this study aims to identify constraints in the production system and optimize workstation capacity using the Theory of Constraints (TOC) approach, through the application of the Drum-Buffer-Rope (DBR) concept and the Linear Programming method. The methodology used includes collecting data on demand, working time, resources, and measuring efficiency and utilization. The analysis was conducted by calculating cycle time, normal time, and standard time, followed by bottleneck identification based on the comparison between Capacity Requirement and Capacity Available. Furthermore, capacity calculations were performed using a linear programming model using WinQSB software. As a solution, two hours of overtime was added to both workstations during the period August 2024 to January 2025, along with a simulation of the DBR improvement scenario. The final results showed an increase in total production capacity at the bottleneck workstation. The previous throughput of 80,669.07 increased to 99,103.42, or an increase of 19%. Thus, the proposed improvements proved to be effective in optimizing throughput and maximizing the company's production capacity utilization.
