Abstract

One of the goals of Indonesia's national development according to the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution is to improve public welfare. The 34 provinces in Indonesia are not free from poverty problems. One of them is the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province which is the province with the highest poverty rate in Java. Poverty can be influenced by several factors, including economic growth, the Human Development Index, and the Open Unemployment Rate. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Economic Growth, the Human Development Index, and the Open Unemployment Rate on the Poverty Rate in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. This study is a quantitative study using secondary data taken from BPS with time series data covering 2009-2023. The results of this study indicate that economic growth and the Open Unemployment Rate do not affect the poverty rate in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, while the Human Development Index has a negative and significant effect on the poverty rate in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province.
