Abstract
Abstract. This research is motivated by global problems related to heavy metal contaminated land due to industrial activities that have an impact on reducing rice crop production in Sidoarjo. Industrial areas have waste that can affect affected agricultural land through river flow so that it can contaminate rice fields near the area. Therefore, the solution that can be done to improve the rice fields is by applying humic acid and silica. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency of humic acid and silica to increase N in soil and nitrogen uptake of rice plants. This research was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Balongpanggang District, Gresik Regency. This research used the Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method. The first factor of humic silica dose (1:4) and the second factor consisted of 3 locations indicated to be polluted by heavy metals. The observation parameters were divided into 3, namely soil sub-sample analysis, observation of rice plant growth and nitrogen uptake of rice plants. Data analysis was analyzed using variance (ANOVA) on soil chemical properties with 95% BNJ further test. The results showed that the application of silica humic acid had a significant effect on nitrogen levels in the soil and uptake of rice plants, but had no significant effect on rice growth. The best dose of humic acid silica application in rice fields near the pharmaceutical industry (L1) and rice fields near the paper industry (L3) is 30 kg.ha-1 (P3) with an N value of 0.16%, while in rice fields near the animal feed industry (L2) the best dose is 20 kg.ha-1 (P2) with an N value of 0.19%. The highest plant absorption efficiency is found in the treatment in rice fields separated by the animal feed industry with a dose of 30 kg.ha-1 which produces an absorption efficiency of 52% in the roots, while the highest efficiency in the leaves produces an efficiency of 64.62% with a dose 10 kg.ha-1. Keywords: humic acid, industrial estate, nitrogen content, silica, rice crops.
