Abstract

Abstract. Agricultural efforts carried out on sloping land can result in damage to soil aggregates. Jatiarjo Village has sloping land that often experiences land conversion from forest to agriculture which can increase soil aggregate damage due to intensive tillage that reduces aggregate stability and exacerbates erosion. This research aims to analyze the soil aggregate stability index on various land uses. The method used for soil sampling is purposive random sampling with consideration of slope and land use. Soil sampling was carried out on 4 types of land use, namely mixed gardens, monoculture gardens, shrubs and moor. Soil sampling is divided into two types including intact soil samples and disturbed soil samples. The observation parameters in this study are physical properties including soil texture, content weight, and aggregate stability and for chemical properties, namely organic matter content. Data analysis was carried out according to the De Leenher De Boodt method by dry and wet sieving. After that, calculations were made using the stability index formula. Then the data obtained were analyzed by correlation test and regression test. The results showed that the aggregate stability index ranged from 42.79 (less stable) to 91.24 (very stable). The main factors affecting aggregate stability are vegetation diversity and soil texture. Keywords: aggregate stability index, slope, land use.
