Abstract

The flow of globalization has facilitated various aspects and methods of conducting cross-border business. However, on the other hand, it can also pose threats to the stability of a country or even an entire region, including the threat of drug trafficking. Drug trafficking is a serious threat faced by countries around the world, including Thailand. Several factors contribute to the prevalence of drug trafficking in Thailand, one of which is the country's strategic geographical location, which is frequently used as a transit route for the smuggling of narcotics and illegal substances. Drug trafficking is a form of transnational crime that frequently occurs at both national and international levels. ASEAN is one of the transnational organizations that plays a role in addressing drug trafficking through its various roles and the agreements it has established. Therefore, this study aims to examine ASEAN’s role in addressing the issue of drug trafficking in Thailand during the period 2018–2020, using theories and concepts related to international organizations and drug trafficking. The author employs a qualitative research method by gathering data and information from various references available on the internet, including journals, books, and official reports, to support the analysis.
