Abstract
Composting is one of the efforts to address market waste; however, the process takes a long time, so bioactivators are needed to accelerate composting. Leachate and local microorganisms (MOL) from bamboo shoots can serve as bioactivators because they contain microorganisms and nutrients that can speed up decomposition. This study aims to determine the effect of adding leachate and local microorganisms (MOL) from bamboo shoots on the composting process of organic waste from traditional markets. The composting process was carried out for 28 days using an aerobic composter with used paint buckets as the medium. The results showed that the variations with the addition of bamboo shoot MOL and the combination of leachate and bamboo shoot MOL reached the required C, N, P, K values and C/N ratio standards more quickly compared to the control (no addition) and the leachate-only variation, which only met the standards in the second week. The C/N ratio values for each variation were: control (19.91), leachate (18.15), bamboo shoot MOL (15.41), and the mixture (17.73), all of which met the standards according to SNI 19-7030-2004. Physical changes in the compost also occurred more rapidly with the addition of bamboo shoot MOL (day 15) and the mixture (day 18), compared to leachate addition (day 21) and the control (day 24). Based on these results, the addition of bamboo shoot MOL proved to be the most effective in accelerating the composting process and improving the final compost quality compared to other variations. Keywords: market waste, bamboo shoot MOL, leachate, composting
