Abstract
Corn is one of the strategic food commodities that plays an important role in the agricultural sector. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the agricultural sector contributed IDR 1,555,207 billion in 2015, increasing to IDR 1,900,348 billion in 2018. Although the area planted and production of corn has continued to rise year by year, its productivity still shows fluctuations. This indicates that the agricultural sector, particularly in corn production, requires specific strategies to consistently improve productivity. The annual decline in productivity reflects the need to identify the causes and solutions. It is suspected that the use of production inputs in Mojokarang Village, Dlanggu District, Mojokerto Regency, is still not fully efficient technically, leading to productivity fluctuations. This study aims to: 1) analyze the impact of corn production factors, 2) measure the level of technical efficiency in the use of production factors, and 3) identify social factors that influence the technical efficiency of corn farming. The methods used include stochastic frontier analysis with the assistance of Frontier 4.1 software and Tobit regression using Stata 17.0 software, involving 76 corn farmers as samples. Primary data were collected through preliminary observations, questionnaires, and interviews, while secondary data were obtained from literature studies. The results indicate that the variables of land area, seeds, and fertilizers significantly affect technical efficiency, while the variables of labor and pesticides do not have a significant impact. The average technical efficiency level of corn farmers in Mojokarang Village is 0.8220, which is considered technically efficient. Social factors such as farming experience and the dummy variable for land ownership status were found to have a significant effect, while the variables of age, education, and number of family members did not show a significant impact on the level of technical efficiency. Key Words: Shallot, Technical Efficiency, Technical Inefficiency, and Production Factors.
