Abstract

Dalhari water apple is one of the superior water apple varieties found in Indonesia. However, the popularity of Dalhari apple among the public is not matched by a high and evenly distributed fruit supply across the country. This is due to the limited availability of trees and high-quality seedlings to meet public demand. Stem cuttings offer an alternative method to address this issue. In stem cuttings, the use of plant growth regulators is essential to support the successful development of the cuttings into new plants. The selection of cutting material also influences the success rate of plant propagation through cuttings. his study was a factorial experiment arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor was the type of plant growth regulator, consisting of five levels: no growth regulator (control), Rootone-F, shallot extract, mung bean sprout extract, and aloe vera extract. The second factor was the position of the cutting material, consisting of three levels: upper stem, middle stem, and lower stem. The results showed an interaction between the two factors: the combination of no growth regulator and lower stem produced the highest average number of shoots at 4 weeks after planting (WAP) (4.11 shoots); aloe vera extract combined with upper stem produced the longest shoots at 2 and 3 WAP (1.59 cm and 2.18 cm, respectively); and aloe vera extract combined with middle stem yielded the highest number of leaves at 2 and 3 WAP (1.93 and 2.92 leaves, respectively). The single factor of plant growth regulator had a significant effect on all parameters, while the single factor of cutting position significantly affected all parameters except shoot length.
