Abstract
Rapid technological progress is affecting various sectors, including agriculture, which demands high-quality products. Sakai Indah MSMEs face challenges in the process of sieving compost fertilizer which is still manual and uses conventional tools. As production increases each month, this process becomes slow and labor-intensive, reducing production efficiency. To overcome this problem, an automatic fertilizer sieving machine was developed using the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) method in order to increase production efficiency. This machine is capable of handling demand spikes of 2,000–4,000 kg per month. DFMA itself is a structured method for designing and developing products to be more effective and according to consumer needs. The research results show that this iron sieving machine succeeded in speeding up the process from 300 seconds to 5 minute per 50 kg of compost. With 18 components, the new design improves stability, durability and reduces labor requirements. From the cost analysis, the total tool manufacturing reached IDR 8.201,000 with an assembly efficiency of 49%. Keywords: DFMA, Automatic Compost Sifter, Production Efficiency
