Abstract

Sports diplomacy has become a vital component of Australia's international relations strategy, particularly through the Pacific Sports Partnership (PSP) from 2015 to 2019. This initiative was designed to strengthen ties with Pacific nations through sports development while enhancing Australia's positive image globally. The strategy integrates values such as social inclusion, gender equality, and health promotion, creating deeper connections between Australia and its partner countries in the region. PSP successfully increased sports participation, strengthened local capacities, and promoted universal values through various initiatives, including athlete training, sports infrastructure development, and cultural exchange. By leveraging sports as a soft power instrument, Australia not only improved its nation branding as an inclusive and caring country but also fortified its geopolitical position in the Pacific region.
