Abstract
Higher education plays a crucial role in preparing students for the workforce,yet there is often a gap between the theoretical knowledge taught in classrooms and the practical skills required in the field. To bridge this gap, internships or practical work experiences (PKL) become an effective solution. The author completed an internship at PT Jawapos Media Televisi (JTV), a local television company in East Java, in the library department with the aim of applying data science knowledge and understanding how data can be used to improve operational efficiency and broadcasting strategies. During this internship, the author focused on analyzing JTV's audience reach during the 04:00 - 05:00 broadcast hour, which was identified as having the lowest audience reach, negatively impacting ratings and advertising revenue. Using the SARIMA (Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) algorithm, the author predicted audience reach for the 2024 period. The prediction results indicated that the audience reach during this hour would remain low in that year.To address this issue, the author recommended broadcasting news programs during this hour, based on an analysis that showed a combination of news and entertainment programs, as implemented by SCTV and IVM television stations, was effective in attracting viewers and increasing reach During the internship, the author also analyzed the broadcasting patterns of SCTV and IVM to identify program strategies that successfully increased audience reach. This analysis showed that the strategy of airing news and entertainment programs at certain hours could significantly increase audience reach. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for JTV and other television stations in increasing audience reach and competitiveness in the highly competitive television industry in Indonesia. Additionally, this research highlights the importance of applying data science in the media industry to support data-driven decision-making and improve operational performance
