Abstract
This research is motivated by the communication of parents in shaping the moral of the children who are in boarding school. The existence of this research to know the effective communication and quality communication with a relatively short meet time between parents and children. This study uses social penetration theory according to Dalmas A. Taylor and Irwin Altman (1987) and the theory of moral knowledge formation from Lickona (2013: 85-100). This study aims to know, analyze and describe the interpersonal communication of parents in shaping the moral knowing on the children who live in boarding school daughter Wali Songo Jombang. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative research method with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis technique used is triangulation of data, using interview of parent informant, child, and observation researcher. From the results of the study concluded that the communication process between parents and children in shaping morale knowing takes place face to face and walk both ways. In shaping morals, parents are facilitated to convey messages to children, because of open attitude, empathy, relationship development and others.
