Abstract

Endophytic bacteria in mangrove plants Rhizophora sp. can be utilized as biological control agents for various plant pathogens because they have various enzymes and as producers of antibiotics. This study aims to determine whether endophytic bacteria of mangrove plants can control root-knot nematodes Meloidogyne spp. This research was conducted at the Plant Health Laboratory 1 UPN “Veteran” East Java from January 2024 to September 2024. Exploration of endophytic bacteria obtained 43 isolates. Selection of endophytic bacteria was done by nematicidal test to get 5 best isolates. The isolates were tested for antagonism with Meloidogyne spp with concentrations of 106, 108 and 1010 isolates, respectively. Anova test results using the SPSS program showed that there was no significant difference between endophytic bacterial isolates with nematode mortality, but there were significantly different results between the concentrations used with nematode mortality. The LC50 results on the five best isolates, namely isolates A23, A42, A43, B33 the optimal concentration is 109 CFU/ml and for isolate D31 the optimal concentration is 1010 CFU/ml.
