Abstract
A Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate factory from Caustic Soda and Carbon Dioxide with a carbonation process capacity of 60,000 tons/year, is planned to be established in the Tuban Industrial Area (KIT), Tuban Regency, East Java. Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate is widely used in various other industrial fields, especially in the food industry, making detergents, controlling pH, and making carbonated water. In this Pre-Factory Plan, it is planned that the factory will be operated 330 days a year, and 24 hours a day. The process of making Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate is briefly carried out using Caustic Soda and Carbon Dioxide heated to a temperature of 75oC which is then fed to the reactor to become Sodium Carbonate. The reaction occurred at a temperature of 75oC with a pressure of 1 atm. The output from the reactor is CO2 which does not act and is recycled back to the reactor. Meanwhile, the bottom output of the reactor is fed to reactor 2 along with Carbon Dioxide to become Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate. The output from the reactor is CO2 which does not act and is recycled back to the reactor. Meanwhile, the bottom output of the reactor is fed to the Rotary Drum Vacuum Filter to separate the filtrate from the cake. The filtrate from the Rotary Drum Vacuum Filter is fed back to reactor 2 because it still contains sodium carbonate. Meanwhile, the cake from the Rotary Drum Vacuum Filter is dried using a Rotary Dryer with the help of counter current hot air. Hot air comes from the blower-free air which is heated in the heater to be distributed to the rotary dryer. The top output of the rotary dryer is hot air and the solids are separated using a cyclone, where the hot air is thrown into the air while the solids are fed with the product from the bottom of the rotary dryer to the cooling screw conveyor. The crystals are cooled on a cooling screw conveyor to a temperature of 40oC and then ground with a ball mill to 100 mesh. Next, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate is temporarily stored in the hopper and silo as a container for the final product Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate (NaHCO3). The final product is then packaged using 50 kg bags for marketing.
