Abstract

City development and urban infrastructure management have a major impact on the hydrological cycle, which influences the condition of the drainage system in an area. Developing residential and industrial areas increases the risk of waterlogging and flooding due to overflowing rivers and inadequate drainage systems. This research aims to analyze the existing condition of the drainage system on Jalan Raya Mayjend Sungkono, Surabaya, using HEC-RAS software. Research methods include primary and secondary data collection and hydrological and hydraulic analysis. The research results show that most drainage channels on Jalan Raya Mayjend Sungkono must be in better condition, with much sediment, rubbish and utilities interfering with water flow. Simulations with HEC-RAS show that the existing drainage channels cannot accommodate high water discharge, especially during periods of intense rain. Based on this, recommendations for improvement include cleaning channels, improving channel structures, and increasing channel capacity to reduce the risk of flooding and increase the sustainability of the urban environment. This research emphasizes the importance of planning and evaluating effective drainage systems to manage urban hydrological risks.
