Abstract
This research report focuses on the determination of Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms in the adsorption of iron (Fe) from well water using MCM-41 synthesized from kaolin. The study highlights the increasing demand for clean water due to population growth and the contamination of well water with heavy metals. Kaolin, a clay mineral abundant in Indonesia, serves as a precursor for synthesizing MCM-41, a mesoporous silica material known for its high surface area and uniform pore structure. The experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of MCM-41 in reducing Fe concentrations in well water, achieving significant adsorption efficiencies. The findings contribute to innovative applications of kaolin in environmental remediation and provide insights into optimizing adsorption processes for heavy metal removal.
