Abstract

The shipyard industry has the potential to produce liquid waste containing heavy metals from ship painting, welding, and frame cutting activities. If these heavy metals accumulate in the waters for a long time, they will be toxic to the marine ecosystem. Adsorption using natural adsorbents of blood clam shell waste can be used to overcome this problem. The purpose of this study was to analyze the efficiency of commercial and non-commercial blood clam shell adsorbents in reducing Pb and Cu metals in Shipyard Industry wastewater. In addition, to analyze the effect of the degree of deacetylation and analyze the adsorption isotherm of Pb2+ and Cu2+ using Blood Clam Shell (Anadara granosa) adsorbents. The media used in this study were commercial and non-commercial blood clam shell adsorbents. Meanwhile, the variables used in this study were 0.5 grams; 1.0 grams; 1.5 grams; 2.0 grams. In addition, this study also used variations in stirring speed, namely 90 rpm, 100 rpm, 110 rpm, and 120 rpm. The results of the study showed that of the two adsorbents used, the best results were obtained using commercial blood clam shell adsorbent of 2.0 grams with a stirring speed of 110 rpm, namely Pb 92.65% and Cu 87.58%, with the best chitosan deacetylation degree value, namely with commercial blood clam shell of 77.3%, and the isotherm model that is suitable for use is the Freundlich isotherm. Keywords: Adsorption, Pb, Cu, Blood Clam Shell.
