Abstract

Melon (Cucumis melo L.) production in Indonesia has experienced a continuing downward trend, so that melon production has not been able to meet consumer needs. Application of MKP fertilizer (52% P, 34% K) and Amino Acid POC is expected to increase the growth and yield of melon plants. This study aims to obtain the best dose of MKP fertilizer and Amino Acid POC to increase the growth and yield of melon plants. The study was conducted in April 2024 - July 2024, in a greenhouse on farmers' land, Jebug Village, Jatierejo Village, Nganjuk District, Nganjuk Regency. The research method used a factorial experiment arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of two factors. Factor I is the dose of MKP fertilizer (5 g/plant, 10 g/plant, 15 g/plant) and factor II is the dose of Amino Acid POC (0 ml/plant, 50 ml/plant, 100 ml/plant, 150 ml/plant). The parameters observed were plant length, number of leaves, number of branches, age of first flowering, number of male flowers, number of female flowers, total number of flowers, number of fruits formed, harvest age, fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit flesh thickness, fruit skin thickness, number of fruit seeds, fruit water content, fruit sugar content, and vitamin C content. Data analysis used analysis of variance. The combination of MKP fertilizer dose treatment of 15 g/plant and POC Amino Acid dose of 100 ml/plant was the best combination, and the single treatment of MKP fertilizer dose of 15 g/plant and POC Amino Acid dose of 100 ml/plant was the best treatment to increase the growth and yield of melon plants in the parameters of plant length, number of leaves, number of male flowers, total number of flowers, fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit flesh thickness, and fruit sugar content.
