Abstract
This study aims to determine the impact of the conversion of agricultural land into toll roads as seen from the socio-economic conditions of rice farmers in Gelonggong Village, Balerejo District, Madiun Regency. The sample used in this study amounted to 38 people who were divided into three hamlets in Glonggong Village using purposive sample (intentionally). The data sources are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative analysis to analyze data using a percentage. The results of this study indicate that the land freed for toll road construction is agricultural land in the form of rice fields. Farmers' perceptions of the process of land use change from beginning to end were stated to be good at 71%. The results of the analysis and hypothesis testing on the social conditions of the farmers show that there is a positive change in the self-esteem of the farmers after the conversion of agricultural land functions. Meanwhile, the economic condition of farmers shows a change in their livelihoods and their main income from the agricultural sector has decreased a lot because agricultural land has been freed for the construction of the toll road.
