Abstract

Industrial activities can cause soil degradation in surrounding areas and affect agricultural productivity. This study evaluates the effectiveness of silica humic acid as a soil amendment on paddy fields exposed to industrial waste. The experiment used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with silica humac acid doses (0, 10, 20, 30, 40 kg ha-1) and three types of industry-contaminated paddy fields (pharmaceutical, animal feed, paper). Parameters measured included pH, organic C, CEC, total N, and available P at 14, 28, 42, and 56 days after application (DAA). Results showed that the effect of silica humac acid doses varied depending on the type of industry. At the pharmaceutical industry site, there was an increase in CEC from 44.34 cmol(+)kg-1 to 52.52 cmol(+)kg-1 and available P from 27.21 ppm to 36.69 ppm at low doses. The animal feed industry site showed that a dose of 20 kg ha-1 provided the best results for soil pH and available P. Meanwhile, the paper industry site required higher doses to achieve significant effects. This study concludes that the effectiveness of silica humic acid as a soil amendment depends on the type of industry and initial soil characteristics.
