Abstract

Hangtuah 2 Sidoarjo High School is an educational institution that carries out many data management activities in all its operational activities. These activities start from processing student personal data, teacher lesson calendars, teaching management, attendance management, library management, financial management, as well as assessing and reporting student grades. During the evaluation process, subject teachers and class teachers at SMA Hangtuah 2 Sidoarjo often made mistakes in compiling grade data because the teacher had to manage a lot of data, making student grade management slower and calculation errors occurred which resulted in ineffective student classification. Therefore, a system is needed to help classify students who need tutoring to improve academic grades. The system built uses the PHP programming language and the C 5.0 Algorithm method, which is a decision tree algorithm that can help classify students who need tutoring, where the attributes used are grades, number of errors, number of books borrowed from the library and arrears in tuition payments used. The research results show that the C5.0 algorithm is able to classify students who need tutoring with an accuracy of 70%, precision of 83%, recall of 65%.
