Abstract
Mass media involves their perspective in interpreting a phenomenon they produce. The same thing was done by Tv One in the coverage of Social Assistance, in which Tv One chose Risma's angle over various other angles. The social assistance problem itself stems from the revelation of the corruption case of Juliari Batubara. The purpose of this study was to find out the discourse developed by Tv One on social assistance coverage on the news program "Cover Story One" episode "Karut Marut Data Bansos". This study uses a qualitative method with discourse analysis of Teun van Dijk which uses 3 dimensions, text, social cognition, and social context. The data in the study were obtained from video documentation of the chaotic episodes of social assistance data which contained 20 scenes, interviews with cover story producers and literature studies. After conducting the analysis, the researchers found a discourse on the transfer of issues and interests of the media's political economy which was built in the news program "Cover Story One" episode "Karut Marut Data Bansos".
