Abstract
Pest control in rice plants is generally carried out by applying chemical pesticides which will have a negative impact on organisms other than dead target pests and reduce the function of agricultural land habitat which is important to do to maintain the existence of natural enemies. Integrated pest control by planting refugia and fobio plants as an alternative control that is effective for the health of cultivated plants, the environment, and increasing the role of natural enemies. This study aims to assess the impact of planting refugia plants and applying biopesticide fobio on insect species diversity and determine the abiotic influence on insect populations. The research was conducted in February-May 2024, data collection of insect samples was carried out by visual observation and using traps including yellow traps and light traps. Analysis includes species diversity index (Shannon-Winner), species evenness index, species richness index (Margalef) and dominance index (Simpson). The identification results showed insects with 8 orders and 40 families. The insect population in rice fields with refugia and phobia amounted to 9,408 individuals, while rice fields without refugia and phobia amounted to 4,944 individuals. The addition of refugia in rice fields can increase the species diversity index and species richness index, as well as a low dominance index when compared to land without refugia and phobia. In this case, temperature and humidity factors did not affect the insect population in both rice fields. Keywords: Insects, Abiotic Factors, Diversity, Ecological Engineering
