Abstract
Environmental pollution is the entry of living things, energy substances, and/or other components into the environment, or changes in the structure of the environment as a result of human activities or natural processes. The printing industry is the industry that produces writing and painting with ink on paper using printing machines. The negative impact of the expansion of the printing industry is the disturbance of health, the disruption of beauty, and the deterioration of objects. Therefore, the objective of this study is to lower the levels of COD and BOD in liquid ink waste, determine the optimal retention time required to lower COD & BOD levels in liquid Ink waste, know the coagulation performance of PAC (Poly Aluminium Chloride) in ink liquid. Reduction of COD and BOD levels of ink waste using the moving bed biofilm reactor method to fulfill waste quality standards. The results of the analysis of the study are COD and BOD. The conclusion of this study is that in reducing the COD level and the BOD level on the ink industry waste can be used the method Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) and the lowest COD levels obtained at the time of contact 90 minutes with the addition of 55 mg / L of coagulation is 139 mg/ L, whereas the lower BOD levels are at the contact time of 90 min with the addition of resin 55 mg/L is 54 mg/L. Keywords — BOD, COD, MBBR, Waste, Coagulants.
