Abstract
Indonesia is a rich country and has many potential natural resources in various sectors that can be utilized to meet economic needs and the needs of its people. One of them is the natural resources of oil and gas, which is increasing along with the increasing human need for energy. This increase is also accompanied by the development of science and technology. This development causes us to be more open to existing changes, one example is the development in the industrial world which results in increasingly fierce competition in the world of work. Therefore, professional human resources are needed in their fields and can master technology in the industrial field, especially in the field of chemical engineering. Higher education as part of national education is fostered and developed to prepare students as human resources who have academic and professional abilities, which requires good cooperation and communication channels between universities, industry, government agencies, and the private sector. This cooperation can be carried out by exchanging information between each party about the correlation between knowledge in higher education and use in the industrial world. To support this, the Chemical Engineering Study Program of UPN “Veteran” East Java requires its students to carry out practical work. Students are expected to gain visual experience and field recognition of the operation of a production and improve skills, so that they do not only understand in theory, but can apply this knowledge so that they can have a complete picture of the existing industrial world and to fulfill the burden of semester credit units (SKS) that must be taken, namely 20 credits that have been converted by the Merdeka Campus Certified Internship program.
