Abstract
The fertilizer industry is a strategic industry considering that Indonesia is an agrarian country with a large population and a fairly high annual growth rate. In order to meet food needs and achieve societal welfare, the government strives to advance the agricultural sector to increase agricultural productivity by producing high-quality fertilizers. Therefore, the government has planned the establishment of PT Petrokimia Gresik since 1956 through the State Design Bureau (BPN). The establishment of PT Petrokimia Gresik was motivated by the desire to support food self-sufficiency proclaimed by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. PT Petrokimia Gresik produces ZA, Urea, TSP/SP 36, NPK, and DAP fertilizers, all of which are materials needed by the agricultural sector (food crops, fisheries, livestock, and smallholder plantations). ZA, TSP/SP 36, and NPK fertilizers are produced to meet needs across Indonesia, while urea fertilizer is produced only for the East Java region. Additionally, PT Petrokimia Gresik also sells chemical products, including: Ammonia, as a raw material for making ZA and Urea fertilizers. Sulfuric Acid, as a raw material for making ZA and ZK fertilizers. Liquid and solid carbon dioxide (CO2), where liquid carbon dioxide can be sold to soft drink manufacturing plants, while solid carbon dioxide is used for preservation. Phosphoric Acid, as a raw material for making NPK Phonska I/II/III fertilizers and SP-36 fertilizers.
