Abstract
A Benzyl Alcohol plant with a capacity of 95,000 tons/year, using the hydrolysis process of Benzyl Chloride and water, will be established in the JIIPE Industrial Area, Gresik, at Jalan Raya Manyar KM 11 Manyarejo, Manyar Sido Rukun, Manyar District, Gresik Regency, East Java. This Benzyl Alcohol plant operates continuously for 24 hours a day with 330 working days and 160 employees. The plant uses Benzyl Chloride, sourced from Hebei Hongbang, Co. Ltd, China, and water from the Kalimireng River in Gresik as raw materials. The product is 99.91% pure benzyl alcohol. Benzyl alcohol can be utilized in various industries, including the pharmaceutical industry, such as PT Kalbe Farma Tbk and PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk, which require benzyl alcohol as an additive in the production of medicines and healthcare products for flavoring, fragrance, and as a preservative. In the cosmetics industry, companies like PT Mandom Indonesia Tbk use benzyl alcohol for flavoring and fragrance in cosmetic products. In the paint industry, companies like PT ICI Paints Indonesia (Dulux) and PT Clariant Indonesia use benzyl alcohol as a solvent in the production of ink, paint, varnish, epoxy resin coatings, and paint removers.
