Abstract
Chili has quite high economic value and market demand. Chili production which increased by 115,250 tons in 2022 must be maintained properly. Problems with chili cultivation such as attacks by the pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum which causes bacterial wilt disease can be controlled by using biological agents such as Trichoderma sp. which in addition to acting as a biological agent can also produce phytohormones that stimulate plant growth (Plant Growth Promoting Fungi). Trichoderma sp. in its growth requires a substrate as energy, the use of bran and biochar which can be a medium for the cultivation of Trichoderma sp. as a coating material in seed encapsulation needs to be developed. The benefits of encapsulation in seeds are that it can protect seeds from environmental influences during the germination period. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of bran and biochar as coating materials for chili seed encapsulation, as well as the ability of Trichoderma sp. as an active ingredient in seed encapsulation in controlling bacterial wilt disease Ralstonia solanacearum. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments in the form of P01 (non-encapsulated seeds). P02 (seeds soaked in Trichoderma sp. 106 conidia/mL), P1 (coating material bran + Trichoderma sp. 106 conidia/mL), and P2 (coating material biochar + Trichoderma 106 conidia/mL). The treatment was repeated five times with six replications for each unit. The results showed that bran and biochar as coating materials can maintain the viability of Trichoderma sp. and are able to control bacterial wilt disease Ralstonia solanacearum. Keywords: Chili, Seed Encapsulation, Bacterial Wilt Disease, Ralstonia solanacearum, Trichoderma sp.
