Abstract

Bacterial leaf blight caused by Xanthomonas oryzae is an important disease in rice plants which can cause yield losses of up to 70-80%. Application of endophytic bacteria Bacillus sp. is one of the control efforts that can suppress the development of Xanthomonas oryzae. This research aims to determine the ability of the endophytic bacteria Bacillus sp. Bth-22 and Bth-31a isolates as agents for controlling Xanthomonas oryzae bacterial leaf blight. This research used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 6 replications of in vitro testing. Treatment (B0) = Control, (B1) = Bacillus sp. Bth-22, (B2) = Bacillus sp. Bth-31a. In vivo testing used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design with 8 treatments and 3 replications. The first factor is the bacterial isolate, namely: (B1) = Bacillus sp. Bth-22 and (B2) = Bacillus sp. Bth-31a, while the second factor is the application dose of Bacillus sp., namely: (DI) = dose 10 ml/plant, (D2) = dose 15 ml/plant, (D3)= dose 20 ml/plant, (D4) = dose 25 ml/plant. Data analysis used variance analysis followed by 5% DMRT. The results showed that the greatest inhibitory power was shown by Bacillus sp isolate Bth-31a about 9.3 mm, the treatment of Bacillus sp. Bth-22 isolate at a dose of 20 ml/plant can extend the incubation period for 7.7 DAI and has the lowest disease intensity about 23.5%, and can increase plant height up to 58.5 cm.
