Abstract
The process of evaporation of sap in the sugar production process at PG. Meritjan is done at the evaporation station. Evaporation of nira is done to remove water content in the nira so as to produce thicker nira to facilitate the cooking process (crystallization). facilitate the cooking process (crystallization). PG. Meritjan has 7 evaporators that are assembled into a quintuple effect evaporator with 2 other evaporators as backup. other evaporators as backup. The quintuple effect evaporator is run with a bleeding system to minimize the use of steam from the boiler.
