Abstract
ABSTRACT This essay explained and explore digital comic from Instagram account of Indonesian’s president @jokowi about ‘mudik’ travel ban in this Covid-19 pandemic. It’s also an analyze of multimodality discourse from Kress and van Leeuwen’s perspective using 3 terminology : representational meaning, interactive meaning and compositional meaning, and then showing that ‘mudik’ is close to masculinity hegemonic. This digital comic placed masculinity hegemonic as the frontline who played an active role to handling Covid-19 related to ‘mudik’ tavel ban. Connel and Foucault’s perspective help to show masculinity that works to disciplined society regarding to hegemonic of ‘mudik’ travel ban. This digital comic shows the diversity of masculinity to return to upholding traditional masculinity values. The government’s comic is an extension of masculinity hegemonic and patriarchal culture.
