Abstract
Soil health is the capacity of soil to function within ecosystems, maintain productivity, preserve environmental quality, and promote the health of plants and animals living in and on the soil surface. The Catchment Area of the Manten sub-watershed covers an area of 176 km2 located in Malang Regency. The Manten sub-watershed catchment area encompasses four sub-district regions: Bululawang Sub-district, Poncokusumo Sub-district, Tajinan Sub-district, and Wajak Sub-district. The soil performance indicators used include physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. The scores of the soil performance indicators are summed to obtain a total score. Each soil performance indicator is given a score corresponding to its soil health level. The soil health classes are divided into five categories as they can represent the levels of soil health, namely unhealthy, less healthy, moderately healthy, healthy, and very healthy soil. Based on the research results, it is shown that the soil health status in the catchment area of the Manten sub-watershed is predominantly in the moderately healthy class. K2 and K3 are classified as healthy, while T3 is classified as less healthy. The limiting factor for health status in the research location is organic carbon. Improvement efforts to enhance the soil health status in the catchment area of the Manten sub-watershed can be carried out by adding soil organic matter to increase soil organic carbon, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), and Base Saturation (BS), as well as applying lime to increase soil pH values.
