Abstract
Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) is a monomer compound used as a raw material for polymers such as PVC or as a co-polymer material. The chemical industry commonly uses VCM as a raw material in polymer production. The method used in the production of VCM is cracking, which is relatively simple, does not require catalysts, and yields products with high purity. A Vinyl Chloride Monomer plant with a raw material of ethylene dichloride, using the cracking process with a capacity of 100,000 tons per year, is to be established in the Industrial Area of Cilegon City, Banten Province. This plant will operate continuously for 24 hours a day, with 330 working days per year. The raw materials for ethylene dichloride production will be sourced from PT. Asahimas Chemical and PT. Sulfindo Adiusaha, located in Cilegon City.
