Abstract

One of the factors affecting project cost and duration is the selection of the slab method, as it has the largest volume of work among other works. Precast slabs can be an alternative to conventional floor slabs due to their potential to improve cost efficiency, accelerate construction time, and structural durability. This research was conducted at one of the leading universities in Indonesia, the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya, majoring in Visual Communication Design (DKV), which is currently constructing a 4-story lecture hall. In this lecture building construction project, the integration of hollow core slabs is expected to increase the efficiency of building construction and reduce construction waste. The purpose of this study is to determine the comparative analysis of time and cost efficiency using the precast hollow core slab (HCS) method as an alternative to the conventional method slab. The data used in this study are in the form of a Budget Plan (RAB), shop drawings, and Analysis of Unit Prices (AHSP) which are used as a reference basis for the analysis of the two plate methods. Based on the analysis, it is known that the implementation of the 4-story building slab work with the alternative precast slab method takes 8 days and costs Rp. 1,691,887,497. While the conventional slab method takes 38 days with a total cost of Rp. 2,276,920,601. From these results, it is known that the use of the hollow core slab (HCS) method provides advantages in the form of a shorter implementation time of 30 days faster and costs 26% less than the conventional slab method. Therefore, the hollow core slab method can be a more profitable option for high-rise building construction projects.
