Abstract

In 2022, 638,275 tourists in Karanganyar Regency decided to stay in either star-rated or non-star-rated hotels. However, this significant number was not accompanied by an increase in the provision of accommodation facilities, as the accommodations in Tawangmangu could only accommodate 65% of the tourists staying each day. Capitalizing on the tourism potential and cultural diversity in Tawangmangu, the opportunity to promote the tourism sector through architecture can position Tawangmangu as a preferred tourist destination. Therefore, it is necessary to develop tourism while maintaining the uniqueness, diversity, and natural potential of the area. This is done to encourage the availability of accommodation as well as to popularize the natural beauty and regional icons. To realize this goal, a symbolic architectural approach with the visual analogy design method is applied in the development process of the resort in this final project. This effort is based on the facts, issues, and objectives that are to be achieved in this design.
