Abstract
A decrease in the level of mangrove density is an indication that the area needs mangrove rehabilitation. Such conditions cause the quality of the environment in Surabaya to decline because the fewer mangrove forest areas there are, the more erosion there will be. Mangrove forests that dominate coastal locations show less erosion compared to areas without vegetation. One effort to overcome this problem is to plan mangrove forests. The first step in mangrove forest planning requires an analysis of the suitability of mangrove growing land so that later the level of land suitability can be determined, so it is necessary to study the "Potential for Increasing Mangrove Plant Cultivation Using a Land Suitability Approach in the City of Surabaya". The aim of this research is to determine the level of land suitability and to determine the limiting factors for mangrove land suitability in the Gunung Anyar Village area, Sukolilo Village and Kenjeran Village, Surabaya City. The mangrove forest area of Surabaya City in the Gunung Anyar, Sukolilo and Kenjeran sub-districts gets the same land suitability value, namely the actual land suitability value S3 (marginal suitability) and the potential land suitability value S2 (suitable). The limiting factors identified are the limiting factors for biota objects which are limiting factors that are not permanent so that improvement efforts can be made such as increasing the number of biota in mangrove forest areas and preserving their habitat.
