Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the influence of GDP per capita, population, FDI, and the dummy variable (SDGs) on carbon dioxide emissions representing environmental degradation. The panel data regression analysis model used is the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The data used covers six ASEAN countries that account for 95% of greenhouse gas emissions, over a period of 15 years from 2006-2020. The analytical tools used in this research are Microsoft Excel and Eviews 10. The results show that GDP per capita and population have a significant positive effect on carbon dioxide emissions, while FDI and the dummy variable (SDGs) have both positive and negative relationships but do not significantly affect carbon dioxide emissions. The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis is proven in these six ASEAN countries and reaches a turning point. The researchers suggest that the role of various parties in adopting environmentally friendly economies is needed. Adopting a "Green Economy" for sustainable economic development, population control, and reducing fossil energy use while shifting to renewable energy are essential. Therefore, the implementation of the SDGs agenda as a support for economic and environmental activities needs to be maximized to achieve the goals of the global community.
